Goose Eye Brewery sits just outside Shipley in West Yorkshire, and it's the kind of place that proper ale drinkers circle on their maps. The brewery itself is working operation - you'll see fermentation tanks, barrel storage, the whole setup - but what really draws people is the tap room. It's unpretentious stuff: industrial space, local crowd, and beers that actually taste like someone cared about making them rather than chasing a trend.

The range changes depending on what's been brewed recently, but their core bitters and IPAs are genuinely good. If you're into craft beer at all, it's worth a visit. The staff know what they're talking about without being snobbish, which matters. You're looking at an hour or so, maybe ninety minutes if you fancy food or a second pint and proper chat.

It's a bit off the main tourist trail, which is partly why it works. You'll get ale enthusiasts and locals rather than coach parties. Families with older kids who don't mind a brewery atmosphere will be fine; it's not a playpen situation. The setting is rural enough that you could tie it into a walking weekend - it's close enough to Woodsworth Exploring and Upwood Holiday Park if you're staying in the area for a proper Yorkshire break.
