Go Ape Dalby

The forest canopy at Dalby is where Go Ape sets up shop - a proper adventure playground suspended between the trees. You're harnessed up and working your way through rope courses, zip lines, and Tarzan swings at heights that feel genuinely thrilling without being reckless. It's exhilarating stuff, and the adrenaline hits different when you're 40 feet up in a Yorkshire forest.

This is absolutely a family affair, though kids need to meet minimum height and age requirements - check their website before you trek out from Pickering. Most groups spend two to three hours on the course, which is about right before arms and concentration start to flag. Adults enjoy it just as much as teenagers; there's something satisfying about conquering the obstacles, even if you're terrified of heights.

Go Ape isn't free - you'll pay admission - but it's a solid half-day activity that genuinely tired everyone out in the best way. Book ahead online, especially weekends. The forest itself is lovely for a walk afterwards if you've still got energy left.

Staying at Vale of Pickering Caravan Park or Lakeside puts you within easy reach, and it works brilliantly as part of a wider Dalby Forest trip.
