Gibb's Knowe

The walk up Gibb's Knowe near Otterburn rewards you with proper panoramic views across the Northumberland hills - the kind where you can actually see for miles on a clear day. It's not the highest peak around, but it punches above its weight visibility-wise, and the climb is manageable enough for most people without being a complete doddle.

The hill itself is straightforward moorland terrain. You'll gain decent elevation without it turning into a proper slog, and the open ground means views open up gradually as you ascend rather than being hidden until the top. On a good day you're looking at surrounding peaks and valley systems that stretch genuinely far. Walkers and fell runners get the most from this one - it's the sort of place where you'll spot others with maps out, not selfie sticks.
