Funland Amusement Parks

Funland sits right on Hayling Island, the kind of place that pulls in families during school holidays and sunny weekends. It's a traditional seaside amusement park - dodgems, arcade games, rides that spin you around, the usual suspects. Nothing cutting-edge, but that's rather the point.

Kids aged five to twelve will probably have the most fun here. Teenagers often find it a bit tame unless they're into the competitive arcade stuff. Adults without children? You'll be there for the nostalgia factor, really - the slightly worn charm of old-school rides and the smell of hot dogs drifting across the promenade.

The park sits perfectly for a holiday based at Hayling Island Holiday Park or Fishery Creek Touring Park, both within walking distance. You can knock it out in an afternoon - two or three hours maximum unless your child is genuinely obsessed with one particular ride. Bring cash for the machines and rides; card payments aren't guaranteed everywhere.

Timing matters. Summer holidays mean queues and school groups. Off-season weekends are quieter but some rides might not run. Check weather too - there's little shelter, and Hampshire can be exposed to the wind when you're out on the island.

It's not trying to be Blackpool or Thorpe Park. For what it is - a low-key day out on the coast with rides and arcade games - it does the job. Worth the visit if you're staying nearby, but you wouldn't plan a trip specifically around it.
