Floral Pavillion

Right on Bridlington seafront, this Edwardian theatre has been putting on shows since 1896 and still draws decent crowds during the summer season. The intimate 684-seat venue runs everything from tribute acts to pantomimes, with a proper old-school feel that's quite refreshing after all those massive modern venues. You'll find it sandwiched between the arcades and fish shops on the South Promenade, impossible to miss with its cream-coloured facade.

Families staying at nearby holiday parks like Haven Thornwick Bay or Parkdean Barmston Beach will find it a lovely evening out, especially during panto season when the kids get properly involved with all the shouting. The acoustics are surprisingly good for such an old building, though some of the seating feels a bit cramped if you're tall.

Shows typically run from May through September, with weekend performances extending into autumn. Tickets aren't cheap by seaside standards, but the quality is generally solid - much better than you'd expect from a traditional seaside theatre. It's worth checking what's on if you're based at South Shore Holiday Park, as you can literally walk there in two minutes. Perfect for when the weather turns and you need somewhere warm to spend an evening.
