The gardens themselves are modest - paths, benches, a few planted borders - but they're well-maintained and the spot feels purposeful rather than forced. You're not here for horticultural theatre. You're here for the panorama and the peace. On a clear day it's worth the trek; on a grey one, less so. Allow 45 minutes return from Kingsbridge town centre if you're not a keen rambler.

Families with older kids will manage fine. Under-fives might struggle with the gradient and lose interest once the novelty of the descent wears off. It pairs nicely with a camping trip at South Devon Camping just up the road - close enough for an easy afternoon walk but far enough that you're not in town chaos. The nearby glamping spots at Hidden Hill are better if you want comfort without sacrificing the countryside feel.
