Fire Hill

The climb up Fire Hill rewards you with proper views across the Sussex Weald, though it's hardly a mountain - more a determined walk through farmland and woodland that's worth an hour of your time. You're looking at rolling countryside that drops away toward Hastings, and on a clear day you can see all the way to the coast. It's the sort of place locals know and visitors often miss.

The path itself is straightforward enough, no scrambling required, and the height gain is manageable for families with older kids. Younger children might find the last push tedious, though the reward of open views tends to keep them motivated. Walkers will appreciate the walk itself more than the destination - it's solid Sussex downland walking, nothing dramatic but pleasant.
