Ffynnon Fael y Sulien

A spring tucked into the hillside above Rhyl, Ffynnon Fael y Sulien is one of those places that rewards curiosity more than casual passing. The site itself is modest - a small stone structure marking where water emerges from the ground - but it's the history attached to it that makes the walk worthwhile.

This is a holy well, the sort of place pilgrims would have sought out centuries ago. Saint Sulien, a sixth-century Welsh saint, is the namesake, and locals credited the water with healing properties. You won't find crowds or facilities here. It's genuinely low-key, the kind of spot where you hear birdsong and little else.

The walk to reach it from Rhyl is pleasant enough - rolling fields and proper countryside views, though it's a bit of a trek if you're carrying small children.
