Featherstone Castle

You're camped at Haltwhistle Camping and Caravanning Club Site or Herding Hill Farm, and Featherstone becomes the intimate counterpoint to the grand statement of nearby Hadrian's Wall. It's a short drive from either location, and it costs nothing to visit the exterior. Spending twenty minutes here, you'll understand medieval Northumberland far better than standing at some heavily groomed visitor centre.
