Falls of Moness Free Car Park

The car park at Falls of Moness is where most people start their walk to the waterfall itself, and frankly it's the sensible place to leave the car rather than risk the narrow lane beyond. From Aberfeldy, you're only a few minutes away, which makes this a proper no-brainer for an afternoon outing.

The falls themselves are the real draw - a genuine waterfall with decent height and power, especially after rain. The walk from the car park takes about 20 minutes on a well-trodden path through woodland, and it's neither too strenuous nor boring. Kids will manage it fine, though toddlers might struggle with the rougher bits near the water. The whole thing in and out is an hour, maybe 90 minutes if you're the lingering type.

It's free, which is always welcome. The car park itself is basic but functional - just a gravel lot where you can park and get on with it. No facilities to speak of, so use the loo in Aberfeldy first if you need to.

If you're camped at Pitilie Pods up the road, this is an easy morning walk before breakfast. Even Aberfeldy Caravan Park is close enough that you could knock this out without much faffing about. The woodland's proper lovely in autumn, though the path can get muddy. Go in drier weather and wear decent shoes. It won't blow your mind, but it's a solid use of a couple of hours if you're exploring the area.
