It's not dramatic - nothing about this corner of Scotland feels show-offy - but that's rather the point. The walk takes about 40 minutes there and back, which means it slots neatly into a morning before lunch or an afternoon that doesn't demand much else of you.

Cupar sits close by, so you're not miles from anywhere useful. The summit itself is modest, marked clearly enough that you won't wonder if you've gone the right way. Walkers will appreciate it, particularly those who've found the bigger hills elsewhere in Tayside a bit much. It's also manageable for families with kids old enough to manage a gentle slope without complaint - so probably seven upwards, depending on how whingey yours are.

If you're staying at Snugs at Logie Farm or Annsmuir Parkhome, both are close enough that you could add this to a wider day of exploring without thinking you've wasted petrol. Free to visit, naturally. Go when the light's decent - late afternoon in summer works better than midday glare. Don't expect crowds or facilities at the top, just space to breathe and views that remind you why Fife deserves more than a quick drive-through on the way to somewhere flashier.
