It's free entry, though you'll want to allow 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how deep you want to go with the exhibits. Being just outside Reading makes it a decent add-on to a bigger trip rather than a destination in itself. If you're staying at Wellington Country Park nearby - which genuinely is a solid base with better facilities - ECO Zone 1 works well as a morning visit before heading elsewhere. California Chalet is closer if you're after something more low-key. The garden's genuinely useful if you're curious about composting or water management, but it won't blow your mind if you're just after a pretty wander. Practical rather than showy.
