Dunsapie Crag

The walk up Dunsapie Crag rewards you with proper views across the Firth of Forth - on a clear day you're looking straight over to Fife. It's not a massive peak, more of a sturdy hill walk that takes maybe an hour from the bottom, and the path is reasonably well-trodden without being crowded.

What makes it worth the effort is the vantage point. You get Edinburgh's skyline to the west and the coastline curving away both directions. It's the sort of spot where you genuinely understand why people settled here centuries ago - everything's visible from up there. The crag itself has a bit of drama to it once you're close, all craggy and steep-faced in that way Scottish hills do.

Walkers will enjoy this more than families with very small children, purely because of the scrambling involved near the top. It's not technical, but it's not flat either. Allow a couple of hours there and back if you're not rushing, longer if you want to linger and take photos. The light's best earlier in the day when you're not squinting into the sun.

Kinghorn's your nearest proper town for supplies or a decent coffee after. If you're staying at Drummohr Camping & Glamping Site, which is only five or so miles away, Dunsapie works brilliantly as a morning walk before heading elsewhere. Worth timing it for decent weather though - cloud rolls in fast here and you'll see absolutely nothing.
