The woodland around Dundurn feels properly wild - ancient and slightly mysterious in a way that makes you forget Crieff is just a few miles down the road. You're walking through native forest that's been here for centuries, with the hill itself rising up dramatically from the surrounding trees. It's less a single attraction and more a place to roam, which is exactly the point.

What draws people here is the combination of decent walking trails and real views across Perthshire once you climb higher. The forest floor is soft underfoot, and on a quiet day you'll hear nothing but birds and the occasional breeze through the canopy. It's genuinely atmospheric rather than manicured, which means muddy boots are pretty much guaranteed.

Historically minded visitors will appreciate that Dundurn has been significant for centuries - there's evidence of settlement and fortification up here - but this isn't the sort of place with interpretation boards spelling it all out.
