Dragon's Tooth

The walk up Dragon's Tooth is a proper scramble, and that's exactly what makes it worth the effort. This sharp rocky peak juts out near Ballachulish like something from a fantasy film, and once you've hauled yourself up the final stretch, you understand why hikers keep coming back. The views across Glencoe are genuinely stunning - all mountains and lochs and emptiness in every direction. It's not a casual stroll. You're looking at a good couple of hours round trip, with a fair bit of rock scrambling near the top that requires actual use of your hands. Walkers with proper boots and a head for heights will find it thoroughly satisfying. Families with younger kids might struggle with the exposure on the upper sections, though teenagers who like a bit of adventure will be buzzing. The whole thing feels properly wild without being outlandish - you're never far from civilization, but it feels remote. Go midweek if you can. Weekends get busy, and the narrow bits are more fun when you're not queuing behind other hikers. Stay at Red Squirrel Campsite Scotland just down the road if you want to tackle it early in the day, or base yourself at Invercoe Caravan Park for a more spacious setup. Either way, allow a full morning and pack decent waterproofs. Highland weather changes fast.
