The Dragonfly gallery sits in Rotherham, a proper working town in South Yorkshire that doesn't get nearly as much attention as it deserves. You can spend an hour here or dash through in twenty minutes depending on your mood and what's hanging on the walls.

It's brilliant if you're staying at Hooton Lodge Farm just outside town and fancy a cultural half-day that doesn't require a trek into Sheffield or Leeds. Bring anyone who actually enjoys looking at art rather than just ticking boxes - this isn't the sort of gallery that spoon-feeds you interpretation.

The honest bit: opening hours and admission fees seem to shift, so check ahead before making the trip. Rotherham's town centre has had its knocks, but the creative folk here are doing interesting things. Worth an afternoon if you're in the area.
