The gardens sit on the edge of Rotherham like a proper Victorian secret - all formal bedding and tree-lined walks that feel a world away from the industrial heritage the town's known for. It's a straightforward kind of place: Victorian layout, seasonal flowers, the sort of spot where you can actually hear yourself think.

The formal gardens work well for a gentle stroll between park visits - it's only five miles from Waleswood Caravan & Camping Park, so absolutely doable as a morning outing before lunch. Families with younger kids might find it a bit slow after the first half hour, but if you've got teenagers who appreciate some peace and quiet, or you're just after a break from the caravan, it's decent filler.

The real selling point is that it costs nothing and expects nothing from you. No gift shop, no café pushing overpriced coffee - just walk the paths, sit on a bench if the weather's kind, and move on.
