Dog Exercise Area

There's a proper designated patch just outside Folkestone where dogs can have a decent run without a lead. It's the kind of place that matters far more to your dog than it will to you, frankly - a straightforward open area designed so your spaniel or labrador can actually stretch their legs and socialise without you having a heart attack about them bolting.

The exercise area itself isn't a destination in the traditional sense. You're not going to spend hours here admiring views or queuing for a gift shop. What you get is space, grass, and other dogs. If your retriever's been cooped up in the car for a couple of hours driving down to Kent, or you've got a young pup that needs burning off, this does the job. The setup is straightforward - it's open and fenced, which means your anxious terrier won't disappear into the distance.

If you're basing yourself at New Beach Holiday Park five or so miles away, this works as a mid-morning pit stop rather than a main event. Twenty minutes to half an hour is usually enough. Go early in the day to avoid the school run crowd and the afternoon pack, when it gets busier.

The real appeal is simple: it's free, it's convenient, and it means your dog won't spend the entire holiday miserable on the lead. For families with energetic dogs, that's worth knowing about. Without it, you'd be relying on longer beach walks or park circuits.
