Dinostar

The dinosaur museum just outside Beverley is one of those places that genuinely stops kids in their tracks. Life-sized models of T-Rex and Triceratops loom over you the moment you walk in, and the detail is surprisingly good - you can see the teeth, the claws, the texture of the skin. It's interactive enough that children stay engaged rather than drifting off after twenty minutes, and there are hands-on fossil displays that actually teach you something rather than just letting you press buttons.

You'll want to allow a solid hour here, maybe ninety minutes if your lot are really into dinosaurs. The museum covers evolution, extinction, and geology in a way that doesn't feel like you're being lectured at. Teenagers often find it a bit basic, but primary school age kids think it's brilliant. There's a gift shop that does the usual overpriced tat, though the fossil replicas are decent value.

Beverley itself is worth an afternoon - the Minster is genuinely exceptional if you care about medieval architecture. If you're staying at Manor Farm Camping nearby, Dinostar makes a solid rainy day plan or a break from walks. The Yorkshire Wolds are all around you, so you can easily combine it with proper outdoor time rather than letting the kids disappear into screens. Not a full-day destination, but a proper addition to a park holiday in the area.
