Dingle-du

Dingle-du is a proper woodland walk through Mid Wales forest, just a short drive from Craven Arms. The trees here are thick and dark in places, with paths that wind through bracken and moss-covered rocks - it's the kind of place where you actually feel like you've stepped away from things.

The walk itself isn't demanding. You're looking at an easy forest ramble rather than a serious hike, which makes it accessible for families with younger kids and anyone who doesn't fancy a full day's trekking. The woodland is quiet, genuinely quiet, so if you're after birdsong and the smell of damp earth rather than views from a summit, this delivers.

Timing-wise, allow a couple of hours if you're taking it slowly and actually looking at the forest rather than just marching through. There's no visitor centre or facilities that we're aware of, so bring a flask and pack it in, pack it out.

If you're staying at one of the nearby glamping spots - Offa's Pitch is closest at just 2.4 miles away - this makes a solid morning excursion before lunch. It pairs well with exploring the Shropshire Hills countryside around Craven Arms, rather than being a destination in itself. Walkers and nature enthusiasts will appreciate the simplicity of it. Kids might get restless after an hour unless they're genuinely keen on splashing through streams and turning over logs.
