Darley Covert

It's ideal for anyone after a straightforward woodland stroll without the crowds you'd get at Delamere Forest nearby. History walkers might appreciate that these forests have shaped the local landscape for centuries, though don't expect dramatic monuments or interpretive boards. Families with younger kids can manage the terrain easily enough, though there's not much in the way of facilities or attractions to keep them occupied for hours - expect 45 minutes to an hour and you've seen what there is to see.

If you're based at one of the caravan parks within a few miles - Delamere Forest Camping is your closest option at 2.3 miles away - this makes a decent leg-stretcher between sites or a break from the holiday park routine. The admission appears to be free, which is the only way these local woods work really. Go when it's not peak season.
