Cup-marked boulder

There's a boulder near Tarbert in Argyll that has been decorated with cup marks for thousands of years, and honestly, it's one of those sites that stops you in your tracks. Ancient peoples carved dozens of shallow circular indentations into the stone - we're talking Neolithic or Bronze Age work here - and they're still visible today. You can run your fingers over them and feel the weight of history in a way that no museum case quite manages.
