This modest hill near Tarbert rewards you with views across the Kintyre Peninsula and out towards the islands. It's not a dramatic peak by Highland standards, but the walk itself is straightforward enough for anyone with reasonable fitness, and the panorama from the top justifies the leg work.

You're looking at roughly an hour up and back depending on your pace. The terrain is open moorland - bog in wetter months, so proper boots matter - and there's no formal path, which means you navigate by compass or map rather than following worn stone steps. That lack of infrastructure is partly the point. It feels like genuine countryside rather than a marketed attraction.

History types might find the views interesting - you can clock the geography that mattered to the old Kintyre settlements and sea routes. Families with older kids will manage fine, though younger ones tend to lose interest once the view doesn't change. Serious walkers use this as part of a longer day in the area rather than a standalone trip.

The nearest towns, Tarbert itself has the basics, and you're well positioned if you're camped at Killegruer Caravan Site or Muasdale Holiday Park - both within easy striking distance. Entry is free, obviously. Go in settled weather; fog rolls in quickly and the whole thing becomes pointless. Early morning or late afternoon light works best if you've got a camera. Allow two hours total if you're bringing family and want a relaxed pace.
