Crow Hill

The highest point in Cambridgeshire sounds grander than it actually is, and that's rather the charm of Crow Hill. You're looking at a modest rise near Huntingdon that tops out at just 84 metres, which in the flatlands of East Anglia feels like proper mountaineering. The walk up is gentle and quick - nothing strenuous - and from the top you get views across the Fens that stretch for miles in that particular pancake-flat way only this part of England manages.

It's not a spectacular destination on its own, but it works well as part of a Cambridgeshire ramble. The surrounding countryside is quiet and rural, good for an hour's potter about. Walkers tend to appreciate it more than casual strollers, if only because it offers orientation points on what can otherwise feel like an endless horizon. You won't find facilities or crowds. It's just a country hill with a bit of local pride attached.

If you're based at Highfield Farm Touring Park just down the road, Crow Hill makes a solid morning outing before heading into Huntingdon proper. The proximity is convenient rather than essential.
