Warner's Park

Warner's Park sits just outside Huntingdon and is properly one of those places you stumble across rather than plan a trip around - but that doesn't mean you should skip it. It's a nature reserve where the main draw is watching wildlife around the water, particularly birds if you know what you're looking for. The park itself isn't massive - you're looking at an hour or so of gentle walking if you do the full circuit, maybe less if you're just popping in for a quick look.

The real value here is as a break from the caravan or campsite routine. If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Crystal Lakes is barely a mile away, and Quiet Waters or Waterclose Meadows aren't much further - Warner's is the kind of spot you can visit without needing half the day. Bring binoculars if you're into birdwatching; otherwise it's a straightforward walk with some decent wildlife spotting if you're patient. Early morning or dusk tends to be best for seeing anything interesting.

It's free to visit as far as I can tell, which is the main thing going for it honestly. Kids will get a bit out of it - there's water, the odd duck, open space - but it won't blow their minds. For walkers and twitchers though, it's worth the detour. East Anglia's not short of nature reserves, but if you're already camped nearby, Warner's does the job without faffing about.
