Cross Dyke

A solid two-hour walk will cover the main sections, though you could easily extend it. Free to access, no facilities, and you'll need decent boots because the ground can be muddy even days after rain.

Families with young kids might find it a bit abstract - there's no visitor centre, no interpretation panels. But older children interested in archaeology or serious walkers treating it as part of a wider day in the hills will get real value from it.
