Crook Peak

Standing 628 feet above the Somerset levels, this distinctive limestone hill rewards the steady climb with proper panoramic views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. The walk up from Winscombe takes about 45 minutes through sheep-dotted fields and rocky outcrops - not too taxing for reasonably fit families with older children.

From the top, you'll see the Mendip Hills rolling eastward and the coast stretching toward Weston-super-Mare. On clear days, the Welsh mountains emerge across the water like a painted backdrop.
