It's a nature reserve rather than the manicured gardens the name might suggest - so think wild plants, birds, insects, and the occasional surprise rather than flower beds and benches.

The main draw is a pleasant circular route through mixed woodland where you can actually spot something living rather than just walking past. Depending on season, you'll see butterflies, various woodland birds, and the undergrowth changes enough to keep repeat visits interesting. It's not dramatic or vast, which is honest of it. Most people spend forty minutes to an hour here without feeling rushed.

Walkers will find it straightforward underfoot and a decent way to stretch legs between seaside time. Families with younger kids who enjoy a bit of nature spotting will get more from it than those expecting play facilities. History types won't find much here - it's about what's growing now rather than what happened before.

It's free to access, which is worth knowing if you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby. Centenary Way Camping is barely half a mile away, and Primrose Valley and Blue Dolphin are just up the road, making this a sensible detour on a coastal holiday without adding petrol costs. Worth the walk on a decent day, though it's not the sort of place you'd rearrange your itinerary for. Best visited when the reserve is actually teeming rather than dormant.
