Creation Research Centre

The Creation Research Centre sits just outside Oswestry in Powys, offering a rather unusual museum experience focused on creationist perspectives and natural history. Walking in, you'll find displays about geology, fossils, and the interpretation of Earth's origins through a particular lens - it's thought-provoking stuff, whether you agree with the approach or not.

This is genuinely more interesting than it sounds if you're into either natural history or the intersection of science and belief. Families with older kids will get something from it, particularly if you've got teenagers asking big questions. Younger children might find it a touch dry unless they're already dinosaur-obsessed. You're looking at a couple of hours maximum to see everything properly.

The visitor information is sparse online, so ring ahead before you visit - opening hours and admission aren't consistently advertised. It's worth the short drive from Oswestry though, especially if you're already in the area exploring Mid Wales.

Locally, you've got excellent camping options within easy reach. Fairhaven Camping and Glamping is barely two miles away and gets top marks from visitors, while Sweeney Farm Glamping is similarly close and just as well-reviewed. Both are proper setups where you could easily base yourself for a few days exploring the Powys countryside. Tanat Holiday Park, six miles south, offers more traditional park facilities if that's your preference. The Centre works well as part of a wider day out - combine it with walking or visiting Oswestry's castle if you're making a proper trip of it.
