The walk up Craiglure from Maybole is straightforward enough, though the summit itself won't stop you in your tracks. It's a modest peak by Lowland standards - the sort of place you'd tackle as part of a bigger day out rather than as a destination in itself.

What makes it worth doing is the walk itself. The approach from Maybole takes you through proper countryside, with decent views opening up once you've gained some height. On a clear day you can see across the Lowlands, which beats staring at cloud cover. The terrain is manageable for anyone with reasonable fitness - no scrambling, just straightforward hillwalking.

Families with older kids will manage it fine. Younger ones might get restless unless you're making a full afternoon of it with a picnic stop. The real appeal here is if you're camping at Freedom Fields Glamping nearby and want a proper walk without driving anywhere new. It ticks a box.
