You'll find Victorian charm in the station building, period details that feel genuine rather than theme-park manufactured, and usually a decent queue of families getting their tickets sorted before heading into the park proper.

It's the sort of place that appeals most to railway enthusiasts and families with young children who still find steam engines genuinely exciting. Adults who visited heritage railways as kids often get a bit misty-eyed about it too. The journey itself takes about twenty minutes through green valleys - nothing spectacular, but genuinely pleasant.
