Coshieville Farm

There's not much left to see at Coshieville Farm, to be honest. What you're looking at are the remains of an Iron Age settlement - a few earthwork banks and ditches that, if you squint a bit, suggest where ancient roundhouses once stood. The site sits in open Perthshire farmland near Pitlochry, and unless you're genuinely into archaeology or you've got a proper interest in how folk lived two thousand years ago, it won't keep you occupied for long.

That said, if you're staying at Glengoulandie Camping & Caravanning just up the road and fancy a walk with a bit of historical purpose, it's worth the detour. The setting's pleasant enough - you get views across the farmland, and there's something quite moving about standing where people actually lived all those centuries back. Bring a guidebook or do your homework first, because the site itself offers precious little interpretation. You'll need maybe thirty minutes here, forty-five if you're thorough.

It suits walkers and history enthusiasts far more than families looking for action. Kids will likely lose interest once they realise there's no climbing, no buildings to explore, just banks of earth. The real appeal is archaeological - this is a proper Iron Age site, not a tourist attraction dolled up for visitors. If you're working your way through Perthshire's darker corners and understand what you're looking at, you'll find it rather compelling. Otherwise, keep it as a quick stop between Pitlochry and your campsite.
