Conaga Dingle

Deep woodland carpets this atmospheric valley just south of Narberth, where ancient oaks and ash trees form a proper canopy overhead. Conaga Dingle feels refreshingly wild - the sort of place where you can lose yourself for an hour or two without seeing another soul. The paths wind through the valley bottom following a small stream, though they're not always well-marked so keep your wits about you.

Walkers will appreciate the genuine sense of wilderness here, especially those who fancy a change from Pembrokeshire's coastal paths. It's not suitable for pushchairs or anyone with mobility issues - the terrain is uneven and can be muddy after rain. Dog owners love it for the freedom and the stream provides entertainment for water-mad spaniels.

Allow a good hour for a proper explore, though you could easily spend half a day if you bring a packed lunch. The lack of facilities means it stays blissfully uncommercialized - just you and the trees. From holiday parks like Bluestone Resort or Noble Court Holiday Park, it makes a lovely inland detour when you need a break from beaches and tourist crowds. Best avoided in high summer when the bracken grows thick, but magical on a crisp autumn morning when the leaves are turning.
