Colebrook Viaduct

You'll spot it from the road first - that massive brick structure arching across the valley like something from a Victorian engineering textbook. Colebrook Viaduct is a proper bit of railway history, built in the 1850s to carry trains across a gap that would otherwise have meant lengthy detours. It's the kind of thing that makes you stop the car and actually get out to look properly.

The viaduct itself is best appreciated from below or at a distance, where you can take in the full sweep of those red brick arches. There's something genuinely impressive about Victorian engineering when you're standing beneath it - all those thousands of bricks fitted together without modern machinery. Families with older kids who aren't bored by industrial heritage will find it worth a brief stop. It's not a destination that demands hours, but as part of a larger exploration of the Kent countryside around Tunbridge Wells, it slots in nicely.

You can walk around the base for photos and a better look at the craftsmanship, though there's no visitor centre or formal access arrangements that I'm aware of. Best visited on a clear day when you can see how far it spans across the landscape. If you're staying at Colts Hill Glamping, it's practically on your doorstep at under four miles away - worth combining with a walk through the surrounding woodland. The Hop Farm is another option closer by, though less immediately convenient for this particular stop.
