About Coed y Geufron
It's not a flashy attraction with visitor centres or playgrounds. Instead, it's genuinely good for anyone who wants a proper walk without the crowds you'd find at more famous Welsh beauty spots. Birdwatchers tend to get the most from it - you'll spot nuthatches and woodpeckers if you're quiet - and it's excellent for photography types after that moody forest light. Kids enjoy it for an hour or so if you're prepared for mud and wandering, but they won't find formal activities. The peace is the whole point.
Allow at least ninety minutes for a satisfying loop, longer if you're the type to stop and listen. There's no entrance charge that we found, which is refreshing. If you're staying at The Beach Caravan Park or Bron-y-Wendon just down the road, this makes a brilliant morning or afternoon escape - far better value than another beach day when the weather turns. It's the sort of place you stumble upon and end up returning to.
