Coed Pen-yr-orsedd

Dense woodland blankets this quiet corner of Anglesey, offering proper escape from the coastal crowds that flock to nearby beaches. The forest paths here are well-maintained but not over-manicured - you'll find yourself wandering through mature oak and birch with the occasional clearing opening up glimpses of the surrounding countryside.

Families staying at the numerous caravan parks around Marianglas will appreciate having this green space on their doorstep. The paths are generally suitable for pushchairs on the main routes, though some of the more interesting trails do get a bit muddy after rain. Kids enjoy the sense of adventure as paths wind deeper into the trees, and there's enough variety to keep a family walk interesting for an hour or so.

Bird watchers do well here - the mix of deciduous woodland and clearings attracts a decent variety of species, particularly in early morning. The forest feels properly wild in places despite being relatively small, which makes it a refreshing change from some of the more tourist-heavy woodland walks elsewhere on the island.

Being so close to Tyn Rhos Caravan Park and the other sites near Lligwy Bay, it's an easy addition to a coastal holiday. Perfect for those drizzly afternoons when the beach loses its appeal, or when you fancy a change from rock pooling and sandcastles.
