Coed Abergele

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured tourist trap, Coed Abergele sits just inland from the North Wales coast near Abergele town. The forest itself is dense enough to feel like you've actually escaped somewhere, with decent paths threading through mixed woodland that's genuinely pleasant without being spectacular. You'll find the usual suspects - oak, pine, the occasional stream - and it's the kind of place where locals bring their dogs and families spend a couple of hours letting the kids burn off energy without much fuss.

Walkers will get the most from it. There's nothing labelled as a "viewpoint" or "famous landmark," so don't pitch up expecting Instagram moments. What you get instead is shade, air that feels less stale than the caravan parks, and the odd spot quiet enough to actually hear yourself think. The paths are manageable for families with reasonable fitness, though pushchairs might struggle in wetter months.

Based near Abergele, you're within spitting distance of several caravan parks - The Beach is closest at just under three miles, whilst Plas Farm and Bron-y-Wendon sit at around three miles if you fancy somewhere with better facilities. The forest works as a half-day break from the static caravans rather than a destination in itself. Go when the weather's decent and the ground's dry. Nothing fancy, but it does the job.
