Cliff End

The walk up to Cliff End rewards you with views across the Weald that stretch for miles on a clear day. It's not a technical climb - more a steady trudge through Sussex woodland - but it's the vantage point that makes it worthwhile. From the top you get a proper sense of how the landscape rolls away toward the coast, and on good weather days you can pick out features that put the whole area into perspective.

This is walker territory, honestly. The nearby town of Hailsham sits a fair distance below, and the approach involves farmland and footpaths that require some navigation. You'll need solid boots and a map app if you're not familiar with the area. Kids who enjoy a proper walk rather than a stroll will get something from it, but those expecting a quick summit dash might find it a bit of a grind for what it is.

Bring water and allow a couple of hours return trip from Hailsham. Go early in the day if possible - the light works better and the paths are quieter. If you're staying at Three Ponds Holiday Park nearby, it makes for a decent half-day excursion, though you'll want to combine it with other walks in the Weald rather than making it a standalone trip.
