Churchdown Skatepark

Concrete ramps, quarter pipes, and rails spread across a proper public skatepark in Churchdown, just outside Cheltenham. This is genuinely free, genuinely open to anyone with a board or BMX, and it's the sort of place that actually gets used rather than sitting half-empty like some council efforts. The layout works for beginners through to proper riders - you won't feel out of place whether you're learning your first kickflip or working on tricks that require actual skill.

If you're camping at Regency Court Park or Briarfields just down the road, this is five minutes' drive away and costs nothing. Families with skateboarding kids will appreciate having somewhere legitimate to send them while you sit nearby with a cup of tea. It's not a destination in itself - you're looking at an hour or so maximum before legs and wrists start complaining - but as part of a Cheltenham-area holiday it fills a gap. The surface is decent, the community feel is low-key friendly, and there's usually someone about to nod at rather than a lonely empty concrete bowl.

Best visited on a weekday afternoon if you want fewer bodies flying around. Weekends get busier, which is fun if you're into that energy but a bit intense if you're teaching a kid the basics. No café, no facilities to speak of - just the park itself. Practical stuff: bring your own water, wear proper protective gear, and check the weather before heading over. Decent option if skateboarding's part of your family's thing.
