Church of All Saints

The spire shoots up from Louth's skyline like a stone needle, and that's your first clue that All Saints Church is worth the visit. Once you're inside, the scale of the place hits you - this is proper medieval architecture, all soaring ceilings and light pouring through old glass. The 294-foot spire (tallest in Lincolnshire, the locals won't let you forget) dominates the town's view, and from certain angles it's genuinely spectacular.

Inside, there's detailed stonework, some lovely tombs, and enough to keep history buffs occupied for a good hour or so. The chancel and nave are well-preserved, and if you catch it when light's streaming in, it's genuinely moving. Photography enthusiasts should visit mid-afternoon when the interior lighting's best.

It's free to wander in during daylight hours, and the church sits right in the town centre, so parking's straightforward enough. Kids might find it interesting for ten minutes, maybe twenty if they're into that sort of thing - but it's not going to grip them for hours. Walkers will appreciate that it's a natural stopping point when exploring Louth's market square and the surrounding Georgian town.

Three Horseshoes Campsite is barely a quarter-mile away, making this an easy morning stroll from your pitch. Oxcombe's a bit further but still close enough for a half-day trip. If you're camping locally, it's worth the detour - gives you a proper sense of what medieval Lincolnshire looked like.
