The Christian Science Church and Reading Room sits quietly on the outskirts of Windermere, a solid Victorian structure that most holidaymakers drive straight past without noticing. It's worth a stop if you're touring the town's quieter corners, especially if you want five minutes of genuine peace away from the lakeside crowds.

Inside, the Reading Room is open to the public and stocks a selection of Christian Science literature and periodicals. The church itself is modest - all polished wood and calm interiors - but there's something rather nice about its lack of pretension. Unlike some of the area's grander ecclesiastical buildings, this place doesn't demand your awe or your wallet.

It's most useful for anyone with a genuine interest in Christian Science, or for those who appreciate smaller, quieter spiritual spaces. If you're the type who likes to drop into local churches while travelling, add it to your list. Children would find it forgettable unless they're old enough to appreciate architectural detail.
