Brant Fell

This compact fell rises just 191 metres above Bowness-on-Windermere, making it one of the Lake District's most accessible peaks. The path from the village centre leads through woodland before opening onto grassy slopes with views across England's longest natural lake. It's a proper starter fell for families - steep enough to feel like an achievement but manageable for reasonably fit children over eight.

From the summit, you'll get cracking views north towards the Langdale Pikes and south over the lake's southern reaches. The walk takes about an hour each way from Bowness, though you can shorten it by driving partway up. Early morning or late afternoon visits avoid the crowds and catch the best light on the water.
