Christ Church

The church sits quietly on the main drag through Marlow, easy to walk past if you're not paying attention. Christ Church is a solid Victorian building - red brick, proper proportions, nothing flashy - that's been part of the town's fabric since the 1850s. Inside, it's all high ceilings and that particular hush you only get in churches, with decent stained glass if you're into that sort of thing.

It's worth a quick look if you're already wandering Marlow's riverside stretches, though don't expect to spend hours here. The real appeal is architectural rather than dramatic - it's a fine example of Victorian church building done without pretension. History buffs and church explorers will appreciate the craftsmanship; families with restless kids might find it a five-minute stop rather than a destination.

Admission is typically free, as is the case with most parish churches, and you can usually slip in during daylight hours. The churchyard itself has some breathing room, which beats being trapped in a cramped urban setting.

It pairs neatly with a longer Marlow visit - grab a coffee, walk along the Thames, then pop in here if the door's open. If you're camped at Rent Bell Tents, it's barely a mile away. Penn Meadow Farm Camping and Amerden Caravan Park are also close enough for a short walk into town. Worth seeing if you're in the area, but don't reroute your whole holiday for it.
