Chase End Hill

The walk up Chase End Hill rewards you with proper views across the Malvern Hills and beyond - though you'll want clear weather to make the effort worthwhile. It's a straightforward climb from the Malvern side, nothing too technical, but steep enough that you'll feel it in your legs if you're not used to hillwalking.

Once you're up there, the reward is genuine. On a good day you can see right across to Wales and down into Gloucestershire's valleys. The hill itself isn't particularly dramatic - no dramatic rocky outcrops or anything theatrical - but it's the views that make the trip. Most people allow 90 minutes to two hours for the round trip, depending on fitness and how long you linger at the top.

This works best for walkers and families who don't mind a bit of gradient. Young kids might find it a slog; teenagers and adults will get on fine. It's worth combining with other peaks in the Malvern range if you're basing yourself nearby - Worcestershire Beacon is the main draw in the area, but Chase End Hill offers a quieter alternative with less foot traffic.
