Cerrig-y-ddinas

Rocky outcrops and sweeping views across the Conwy Valley make this modest peak a proper treat for anyone willing to put in a bit of effort. The scramble up Cerrig-y-ddinas isn't particularly taxing - think steep footpath rather than mountain expedition - but the payoff is excellent. You'll get cracking views over Conwy itself and the castle walls, plus the estuary stretching out towards Anglesey on a clear day.

Families with older kids will love this one, though I wouldn't attempt it with pushchairs or wobbly toddlers. The terrain gets quite rocky near the top, and there are some proper drops if you wander off the main route. Allow a couple of hours for the round trip from Conwy, including time to actually enjoy the summit rather than just bag it and dash off again.

What makes this walk particularly appealing is how accessible it is from town. No need for lengthy drives to remote car parks - you can literally walk from Conwy's historic centre and be on the hill within twenty minutes. Perfect for stretching legs during a holiday at one of the nearby parks like Conwy Holiday Park or Berthlwyd Hall. The views back down to your caravan or lodge make for a satisfying end to the climb.
