The church itself is solid, unpretentious - your standard rural parish church that's been doing its job for centuries without fuss.

It's genuinely worth twenty minutes of your time if you're staying at Lynmouth Holiday Retreat or exploring the North Devon coast nearby. The views down towards Lynmouth are proper, especially on a clear afternoon when you can see all the way to the water. You get a real sense of how the town's grown and changed by reading the stones - local names repeating, sailors and their families, ordinary lives marked in granite.

Walk there from the town centre rather than drive if you can manage it. The climb's moderate, nothing punishing, and the path gives you a proper appreciation for how Lynton's built on these steep hillsides. History buffs will find something here; kids will lose interest fairly quickly unless they're the type who read old gravestones for fun. Free to wander, obviously. Best visited when the light's good - early morning or late afternoon - because the yews cast deep shadows at midday and you'll miss the atmosphere. Don't expect grand monuments or elaborate Victorian theatrics. This is honest, humble Devon.
