The Catholic Church in Kingsbridge is a quiet spot if you're staying at one of the nearby camping parks and fancy a proper walk into town. It's the sort of place locals know well but most holiday-makers miss entirely, which is fair enough - it's a working parish church, not a tourist attraction with gift shops and guided tours.

What you get is straightforward: solid Victorian architecture, a peaceful interior, and the feeling of stepping into somewhere genuinely used by the community rather than preserved for sightseers. If you're into church architecture or looking for a calm fifteen minutes away from campsite life, it's worth the short trip from Wilton Farm Camping or Karrageen. Kids won't be entertained for long, to be honest.

Admission should be free - most parish churches are - but ring ahead to check opening hours, as they vary. Allow twenty minutes to half an hour if you're combining it with a wander round Kingsbridge's high street. The town itself has proper shops, a decent takeaway or two, and a riverside walk that's far more interesting than the church on its own.

If you're based at South Devon Camping Lower Terawhiti Farm or Start Bay further out, the drive into Kingsbridge isn't worth it just for this. But if you're already in town grabbing supplies or lunch, slip in. It's the sort of small-town experience that makes a camping holiday feel less like a theme park visit and more like actually being somewhere real.
