Catcomb Wood

Catcomb Wood is a proper woodland walk just outside Chippenham in Wiltshire - the sort of place you head to when you want an hour away from the caravan without driving far. It's nothing grand, just a fairly dense patch of mixed woodland with decent footpaths threading through it. You'll find bluebells if you time it right in spring, and the trees give decent cover on rainy days, which matters when you're camping nearby.

The wood itself is straightforward enough. Walk in, follow the paths, walk out again. It's good for families with younger kids who want to burn energy without committing to a full-day hike. You might spot birds or squirrels if you're lucky and quiet. The paths are mostly manageable, though it can get muddy after rain - not exactly challenging, but honest woodland rather than a tourist attraction trying too hard.

There's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so bring your own water if you're making a proper outing of it.
