Carreg Wystrys

The walk up to Carreg Wystrys rewards you with proper views across Cardigan Bay and back towards the Snowdonia peaks. It's a scramble rather than a gentle stroll - rocky underfoot, the kind of terrain that demands attention - but nothing that'll defeat most walkers with reasonable fitness.

What you're looking at from the top is a vast sweep of North Wales coastline. On a clear day the perspective really opens up; you can trace the curve of the bay all the way round. The rock itself is dramatic enough - it's a natural outcrop that commands the landscape - but the real draw is what spreads out below and beyond.

This works best for walkers who actually enjoy a bit of effort rather than those after a quick snapshot. Families with older kids will manage it fine. Allow a couple of hours return from Pwllheli if you're doing this properly, not rushing. The scramble up takes twenty minutes or so, then time to sit and actually take it in.

If you're based at Glampio Coed or one of the other glamping spots nearby - Treheli Farm and Tyn Ddol are both within a short drive - this slots nicely into a day's walking. It's the sort of viewpoint that earns its place in your itinerary through effort rather than convenience. Go early on a clear day and you'll understand why locals bother with it.
