Carn Bosavern

The walk up to Carn Bosavern takes about twenty minutes from the car park, and it's steep enough that you'll feel it in your legs but not so brutal you can't manage it with kids in tow. The stone circle itself sits at 330 metres on the slopes of Mên-an-tol, and from up there, the view across Mount's Bay towards Mousehole and beyond is genuinely striking - especially on a clear day when you can pick out the Lizard Peninsula in the distance.

What you're looking at is one of Cornwall's Bronze Age monuments, and there's something oddly moving about standing among the stones where people stood four thousand years ago. The ground's rough underfoot, so proper walking boots matter. On the way up you'll pass through moorland that feels properly wild, even though Penzance is only a few miles south.

Honestly, it works best as part of a bigger walk rather than a standalone trip. History enthusiasts will spend a good hour here, picking over the stones and soaking up the atmosphere. Casual visitors might manage thirty minutes and call it done. Families with younger kids can make it, but there's not much hands-on activity once you arrive - it's views and old rocks, essentially.
